Percy's Aeroplane

Ok, so life has been busy and I have not updated this blog. I am sorry. I apologise. Not sure what's made me do this but I guess sometimes, it's the little breaks that you get in life that remind you of the things that you are missing out on...like writing random articles and sharing random thoughts.

Anyway, a change in scheduled meant a chance to try out Percy's Aeroplane in Kew. The reviews were good, the place was on the way to work, the sun was shining, so why not?

Ordered the thyme infused mushroom with avocado, spinach, dukkah and poached eggs. Nothing to fault, really...loved the chunky mushrooms with the balsamic reduction and the dukkah just added a whole new dimension to the taste of the dish. Requested for cracked pepper on top which finished the whole dish up perfectly for me.

Ok, if I were to be picky, I would probably say I prefer more lemon or lime in my smashed avocado. However, having said this, the rest of my dining companions thought it was great as it were, so each to their own...maybe a slice of lime on the side (personally prefer lime to lemon)? Special mention too to the staff who accommodated my 'difficult request' for no butter on toast and no goat's cheese.

My dining companions got the trout and the Pilot breakfast. Both looked good and tasted great. The scrambled eggs were done to perfection, nice and creamy, the way it should be.

Coffee was a long black which I thought could probably be a bit stronger. The mocha was a good balance of chocolate and coffee whilst the cappucino, I am told was nice and creamy.

Overall a great small cafe with a nice and friendly team. Thanks, guys for a great start to my week.
